oping University, Linkoping, Sweden

Svjetlana Stekovic is Associated Professor at the Division of Engineering Materials and EU Senior Research Coordinator at Grants Office at Linkoping University in Sweden. Her main research area is on advanced structural materials within aerospace applications.

Svjetlana received her PhD from Linköping University at the end of 2007, which focused on the design, set-up and completion of complex thermo-mechanical fatigue tests and damage mechanism characterisation of various coated and uncoated nickel-base superalloys for turbine blades used in land-based gas turbines. Afterwards, she moved to the UK to work at Rolls-Royce plc in Derby for five years. At Rolls-Royce, Svjetlana was working with research, development and characterisation of existing and future turbine disc alloys for different aero engines across various internally and externally funded projects. Svjetlana has been working with PhD students, EngD students and PostDocs as well as with undergraduate, graduate and work experience students while at Rolls-Royce plc and Linköping University. She was supervising and co-supervising 26 PhDs, EngDs and PostDocs as well as 4 intern graduate students from various UK universities, and 11 master students at Linköping University.

Svjetlana has been awarded the Ulla Teige diploma for being a female role model in aerospace in Sweden in 2022.
She is involved in organising committees for ICAS 2022 Congress, EUROMAT 2023 and Fatigue 2024. She is a member of the steering group in the Swedish national strategic innovation programme for aeronautics (Innovair). She has also co-organised international conferences such as TMF Workshop 2016 and 2019, and EUROMAT 2019 and 2021.
